Safeguarding Orange County Power Authority

When I was elected to the Irvine City Council in 2020, I initially had reservations about joining the Orange County Power Authority (OCPA). However, at the request of my fellow Councilmember Kathleen Treseder, I decided to join the Board of Directors. We both recognized the potential of OCPA to make a significant impact on our city’s climate action goals and the lives of our residents.

Since joining, we have been working tirelessly to improve the organization from the inside out. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency in all our operations, ensuring that OCPA remains a trustworthy provider of clean, renewable energy.

One of our key achievements has been the reduction of rates. As of March 20, 2024, OCPA’s rates for the Basic Choice are 3% lower than those of Southern California Edison (SCE). This is a testament to our commitment to making clean energy accessible to all.

Through OCPA, we are providing our residents with cleaner and more affordable energy options and making significant strides towards a sustainable future. I am committed to continuing this work and driving further improvements in our pursuit of these goals. Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter, more sustainable future for all residents of Orange County. Learn more about OCPA: https://www.ocpower.org/
